Arwal town is located in the state of Bihar. It is headquarter of the Arwal district. Earlier Arwal was part of Jehanabad district. It is one of the most important towns of the district of Bihar. Arwal is the smallest district in the state in terms of area.

Arwal is situated at twenty-five degrees North and eighty-four degrees East. The town is located at an average elevation of around 67 mts or 220 feet. The headquarters of the district is located in our world near the river Sone. The capital of the state of Bihar is Patna which is located about 80 km away from the small town of Arwal. The main language that is spoken by the people of Arwal is Magahi. People also know Bengali and Hindi.

Demography of Arwal

The district of Arwal is home to around 7 lac people. According to the Indian census of 2011, around 52% of the total population is male and the rest 48% are female. There are as many as 1.2 lakh houses in the entire district and almost 6 people live in each family.

History of Arwal

Arwal is known as the birth place of the famous poet Banabhatta, the author of Harsha Charita which is the biography of the famous king Harshavardhana. It was once part of Jehanabad district of Bihar. The town of Arwal is located near the river Son, which is one of the most important tributaries of river Ganga.

Economy of Arwal

The primary economy of the district of Arwal is dependent mostly on agriculture. The people in this part of Bihar depends on agrarian economy and allied activities. Canals are a major source of irrigation supported by channel of wells. Since Arwal is comparatively a smaller town, there are no places of interest where the tourists can stop by and enjoy the various monuments. But it is known for the scenic beauty that it offers especially during the monsoon season when the farms are full of paddy crops. Also, the tourist can enjoy walking beside the river Son.

Arwal is linked to the various parts of Bihar via roadways and railways. The NH 110 links the district of Arwal to the Bihar Sharif on the NH 31. The NH 98 passes through the district of Arwal and connects Aurangabad and Patna. The closest railway station located to the district of Arwal is Jehanabad, which is around 35 km away, and Anugrah, which is around 60 km away. The nearest Airport located to Arwal is the Patna Airport.
